The protein in numbers
Protein Basics
What kind of protein do you use?
We use 100% whey protein – a dairy-based protein known for its complete amino acid profile. It’s unflavoured and contains no added sugar.
Where does whey protein come from?
It’s sourced from cow’s milk.
Is it similar to store-bought whey protein powders?
Yes – we’re using a trusted, off-the-shelf Australian brand, UPROTEIN. Why mess with greatness?
What’s in the protein powder?
Unflavoured: Uprotein 100% Whey Protein Hydro + Enzymes Blend (99%) [Whey Protein Concentrate (Milk, Soy Lecithin), Instantised Whey Protein Isolate (Milk, Soy Lecithin), Whey Protein Hydrolysate (Milk)], Proteolysis Digestive Enzymes (Papain, Bromelain).
Contains: MILK, SOY.

Protein in your drink
How much protein is in each drink?
It depends on the drink and size:
Cold Foam: 17.7–18.5g depending on the flavour.
Protein lattes and drinks with protein boosted milk: 10.3g–27.5g depending on the size and whether it’s hot or iced.
Combination of both? Add them together!
Why does the protein amount vary between flavours?
Some of our flavoured sauces and syrups already have small amounts of protein in them, so the total protein in your drink will vary!
What is the protein foam made of?
A 50/50 mix of fresh cream and full cream milk, with protein powder added.
Customisation & Availability
Can I get a scoop of protein in any other drinks?
Yes, we can add a scoop of protein to another beverage for $1/ea. A scoop is 10g of protein powder, which delivers approx 8g of protein.
Can I have protein boosted milk in any drink?
We can swap the protein boosted milk into any drink that we currently make with milk – any coffee, tea, Iced Shaken Espresso, Frappuccino Blended beverage and more!
Do you have a plant-based option?
For now, we only have dairy-based protein products: Whey protein powder and protein-boosted dairy milk.
Can I buy the protein powder on its own?
Our baristas are experts at making excellent drinks, so we’re only offering protein powder already added to your drink or foam at Starbucks.
Is this available in all Starbucks locations?
Currently, we’re trialing protein products in selected Starbucks stores in Australia.
VIC – Epping, Maidstone, St Albans, Werribee
WA – Ellenbrook, Tapping, Clarkson, Butler
Is this protein product the same as Starbucks in the US or India?
We’ve developed recipes using local ingredients that are the most appropriate to our customers here in Australia, and that meet local dietary regulations.
We’re using UPROTEIN protein powder, DAIRY FARMERS milk (VIC) and HUNT & BREW milk (WA).
