My VIA Moment by Kate Goodwin
Starbucks still maintains the quality of 100% Arabic beans that they would use in their whole bean coffee.

When I first heard about Starbucks VIA, my initial thought was, ‘Why oh why has it taken so long for Starbucks to produce instant coffee?' The fact that coffee is our core, it was something I questioned all those years back to when I first ever stepped foot in the green apron. Following that, I also wondered how on earth we were going to pull it off…
Drinking instant coffee is something I do not par-take in. I find the quality & taste to be far from average & definitely not up the coffee standards I’m used to. Being the massive coffee snob I am, instant coffee & myself just don’t equal a good pairing - so I do not drink it.
When Starbucks announced VIA was coming to the Australian market, I was both excited & concerned. I wondered how we were going to transform a freshly brewed up of coffee into an instant coffee. Surely something was going to have to give. A cup of instant coffee wasn’t going to compare to the taste of a freshly brewed french press of Italian Roast, surely?!
The moment I tasted VIA, I knew it was time to change my stance on instant coffee. Unlike other companies who use robusta beans, Starbucks still maintains the quality of 100% Arabic beans that they would use in their whole bean coffee.
When I was asked to be ‘the face’ of VIA, I have to admit, I was a little reluctant to say yes. I’m usually the one behind the camera. With the thought of a mini road trip to Palm Beach, an endless supply of Starbucks VIA & the permission to be as crazy & as outgoing as I liked, my initial 'no' turned into a 'yes'.
Our day was long but very rewarding. It’s not as easy as it seems staring in a photo shoot. It actually requires a lot of patience & the ability to be ‘a natural’ is harder than it seems. I seem to lack the above in large doses so I found it quite the challenge.
I am excited that we now sell Starbucks VIA in stores because not only can it be used everywhere but now each one of customers can have their very own Starbucks VIA moment.
