Organic Shade Grown Mexico
The last remaining cloud forest in Southern Mexico is home to more than 400 migratory bird species.
That number includes two of the rarest bird species in Latin America. The Horned Guan is a large, black-and-white, turkey-like animal. Then there is the Azure-rumped Tanager – known for its beautiful song but shrouded in mystery because fewer than 10,000 of them remain.
This forest is also the source of this bright coffee – a crisp, nutty brew with a sparkling aftertaste – and we are honored to bring it to you.
The forest is the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in Chiapas. There, coffee farmers are protecting the forest’s birds and biodiversity through the use of organic and traditional shade-growing agricultural methods. For more than a decade, Starbucks and Conservation International have been working together with farmers to protect biodiversity “hotspots” like El Triunfo around the world.
